Treating IT workers with respect is essential

Respect for everybody in the office is crucial.

There are many components to most companies, and from production to account management to sales, they are all important. However, in the increasingly technology-driven office world information technology (IT) professionals are becoming essential.

Most companies now have their own IT staff to help make sure that servers, computers and phones are working properly and it is essential for more traditional office workers to treat these people with respect.

While it can be tempting to view IT workers as serving one's self, the conscientious worker recognizes that most of these professionals have to deal with a long list of problems from people throughout the company. Because of the nature of their job, it is essential that IT workers are treated with courtesy and respect to ensure that they are able to help out as many people as possible.

Some companies bring in outside help to perform IT functions, and it is just as important that these people are treated with respect. Even though they may not work for one's company, they are still people who deserve to be treated as such.

Having respect for one's self and others is essential for life balance in the office.

Those who work in childcare should receive proper certification

Many individuals believe that their calling in life is to work with children in order to help these young minds in their personal growth. While this is certainly commendable, it takes a lot of work to ensure that a teacher is prepared for all of the lessons needed in the education field.

Although it is important for individuals to take various courses to ensure that one is prepared in the childcare industry, a number of classes classes can be expensive, ultimately steering potential participants away. However, some companies are looking to ensure that childcare professionals receive the training they need in order to stay current on regulations.

ChildCare Education Institute (CCEI), which provides distance learning courses available to people in the childcare community, recently offered students the chance to complete six courses free of charge on May 6, which is Provider Appreciation Day.

"Ongoing professional development is a large part of maintaining an educated childcare workforce and online training is one way to meet this goal," explained Maria C. Taylor, president and CEO of CCEI.

Yoga festival comes to beach town

One yoga instructor told the website that after years of not understanding what the big deal was, all the benefits of practicing yoga finally fell into place in her mind.

In a way, it is appropriate that a large yoga event will be held in Virginia Beach, a town that already knows so much about relaxation and stress reduction. A three-day yoga festival will be held in the city's Oceanfront Hotel, according to the news site Hampton Roads.

One yoga instructor told the website that after years of not understanding what the big deal was, all the benefits of practicing yoga finally fell into place in her mind.

Kate Patterson, who teaches yoga in Hawaii, said that what finally won her over was the self healing power of the regimen, of which humans have been making use for thousands of years. Specifically, Patterson took up the soothing, holistic mind-body system after a medical condition left her unable to go jogging.

"I realized that it was such a very healing method. It changed my life," she told the source. Now, she is hosting the festival, hoping to change the lives of others. "The problem, according to yoga, is that we're disconnected, and the solution, according to yoga, is to reconnect."

For those who practice Dahn Yoga, reestablishing the link between mind and body is the number one priority.

Anne Hathaway stars in The Princess Diaries.

Personal change and personal development are two of the common interests for people who practice dahn yoga.

Mia Thermopolis – played by Hathaway in the movie – is raised by her mother, who starts to date Mia's high school teacher, to the awkward teenager's immense horror. She feels that she is already enough of an outsider without having to deal with her mother, an artist, dating her teacher.

However, what Mia doesn't know is that she is actually the princess of Genovia. Her real name is Amelia Mignonette Grimaldo Thermopolis Renaldo. Her grandmother is the dowager princess of Genovia – played beautifully in the movie by Julie Andrews.

Mia learns to sit up straight and to act like a lady. These are just physical developments while the more lasting and meaningful developments are within her – in terms of confidence and a sense of honor and purpose.

The Princess and the Frog is about determination and adventure

Tiana kisses the frog and becomes a frog herself.

One of the many facets of dahn yoga is its link to personal change and personal development.

The story of the Princess and the Frog is rife with personal change and development. In Disney's new version of the classic tale, a young girl is turned from human to frog, falls in love, accepts that she will have to live the rest of her life as a frog, and then is finally turned back into a human.

Tiana is a girl living in the 1920s New Orleans and her dream is to open her own restaurant. Prince Naveen is from the fictional place called Maldonia and he has been turned into a frog by an evil voodoo witch doctor.

When Tiana meets Prince Naveen – in frog form – at a masquerade ball, he convinces her to kiss him, agreeing to see to it that she will receive the money she needs to fund her projects. However, the trick doesn't work and Tiana herself becomes a frog.

The Disney movie has many new twists and turns on the old story of a beautiful princess kissing a frog, who then becomes a human again.

However, the theme of staying true to one's dreams – Tiana's dream of becoming a restaurant owner, for example – and the necessity to be courageous even if it involves deep personal change is a timeless subject in which many can find inspiration.

Yoga program improves paralyzed teen’s speech

Individuals who engage in Dahn Yoga have reported improvements in chronic pain and joint aches caused by diseases like multiple sclerosis and arthritis.

When it comes to overcoming the aches and tension associated with nerve damage, Dahn Yoga DVDs offer a number of exercises that target the neurological side effects of certain conditions. The power of yoga to coalesce and redistribute the body's energy is exemplified by the case of a Calgary teen who recently regained the ability to speak after suffering from paralysis.

As reported by the Toronto Sun, 16-year-old Micaela, a quadriplegic patient at the Alberta Children's Hospital (ACH), used deep breathing techniques and a regimen known as "laughing yoga" to reinvigorate her lungs and voicebox following a severe case of meningitis and encephalitis.

The teen suffered from these conditions due to a rare, inherited liver disorder. She was unable to verbally communicate in any way, beginning at age 13, the newspaper stated.

However, with the help of two physical therapists from the ACH and regular yoga exercises, Micaela's parents told the news source that their daughter is speaking and laughing out loud for the first time.

Yoga may supplement psychological treatment for eating disorders

Research appearing in the journal Eating Disorders suggests that the holistic discipline may be an appropriate supplement to rehabilitation programs for anorexia nervosa, bulimia and binge eating disorder.

Dahn Yoga benefits people of all ages, backgrounds and body types, which may be why so many satisfied members have written testimonials expressing their jubilation at having found the regimen in the first place. Besides being an appropriate exercise for people in a frail condition, yoga may augment psychological therapy for individuals with serious mental conditions.

Yoga has been found to accommodate the physical needs of patients in relatively weak conditions. A study published in the journal Archives of Internal Medicine recently determined that low-impact yoga exercises may help elderly individuals with chronic heart failure stay active.

Now, research appearing in the journal Eating Disorders suggests that the holistic discipline may be an appropriate supplement to rehabilitation programs for anorexia nervosa, bulimia and binge eating disorder.

Laura Douglass, the author and an interdisciplinary studies student at Massachusetts' Lesley University, is careful to note that on its own, yoga is not a thorough treatment for people with these conditions. Instead, it may be a constructive part of an integrated mental and physical healing program, she states.

Douglass notes that yoga may come at the problem of body image by way of sociological, neurological and spiritual inroads.

In addition to making an individual more aware of his or her own physique, Dahn Yoga mindfulness meditation can emphasize the importance of maintaining a strong, accepting connection between mind and body.

WITC offers new administrative degree for those looking to make a personal change

The program will allow students to boost their skills

Individuals who are looking to make a personal change in their life, such as enrolling in an advanced degree program, may be surprised to learn about all the options that are available to them.

Wisconsin Indianhead Technical College (WITC) will now be offering a two-year administrative professional associate's degree, which will be completely online this fall.

School officials said that this is a way to meet the high student demand for the program, while also working with nontraditional students' schedules, as some may have families or careers that they need to devote the majority of their time to.

"WITC received many requests from students to provide the program online," said Leslie Bleskachek, the school's academic dean. "This recognizes the need for full-time employees to have an option to enroll, even if they are working during the day and can’t attend day classes. A degree in this program can often be a stepping stone into higher levels within organizations after initial placement."

Charlestonians practice yoga, flash-mob style

A flash mob of 100 people recently performed yoga in downtown Charleston, South Carolina.

Individuals who practice Dahn Yoga brain wave vibration – which is a form of moving meditation – know that the urge to practice yoga can occur anywhere, since it can be done effortlessly out in the open. To wit, a flash mob of 100 people recently performed yoga in downtown Charleston, South Carolina, according to WCBD TV, an NBC affiliate.

Skip Rector, a yoga instructor at the College of Charleston, told the news station that the idea occurred to him in 2010, when he visualized hundreds of students doing the "sun salute" pose together.

After conferring with some of his students, Rector decided that they could all do a little yoga in public as part of a flash mob, which is a group of individuals who suddenly perform an unexpected activity in the middle of a crowded area before quickly dispersing.

"The students in my classes were extremely enthusiastic when I mentioned it and we just went from there," he told the news source. "During the mob, seeing so many people doing yoga was empowering – students coming together in unison to do something that is good for them individually and also to show observers that anyone can do yoga."

Though it was founded in the 1980s, Dahn Yoga's basic precepts and techniques are directly descended from methods practiced five millennia ago in East Asia. These precepts include the importance of the mind's partnership with the body, as well as the need for a balanced bond between the two.

Today, thousands of Americans practice Dahn Yoga everyday, many of whom are delightedly trying it for the first time. Taking a little time out of one's day to stretch, breathe, pose and meditate with a gentle smile on one's face can radically change one's mood and outlook.
