Where Dahn Yoga practitioners share their experiences

Dahn Yoga Benefits

Life can often be busy and hectic, what with pressure at work, deadlines to meet and struggling relationships. It can be easy to overlook the importance of relaxation and mindfulness, but even setting aside just one hour each day to pause and reflect can help strengthen the mind-body connection and facilitate the flow of energy.

Dahn Yoga benefits not only one’s physical well-being, but also their emotional, mental and spiritual health. The body increases its flexibility and balance, while improving bone density, muscle tone and metabolism. Additionally, individuals who practice Dahn Yoga can improve their respiration, energy and vitality, while managing pain, promoting cardiovascular health and facilitating circulation to all organs of the body.

Meanwhile, the mind benefits by learning to relax and to better handle stress. Achieving calm and quiet amidst the mundane frustrations of everyday life can help encourage personal growth and self-acceptance, while promoting a self-centered, balanced approach that emphasizes one’s deep connection to the vibrating harmony of the universe.

Finally, Dahn Yoga benefits an individual’s spirituality, helping them to be one with humanity. By blocking out the white noise of stress, one can fine-tune the mind to be more receptive to positive energy and thus be more likely to understand the true purpose of life.

I came to Dahn Yoga suffering fom chronic fatigue and fibro-myalgia=like symptoms. After working two or three hours, I would feel total exhaustion and have to lay down for a number of hours. With the very first class I noticed a revival of energy. It did not last long, but as I continued with the classes the length of time I felt energized kept increasing. Within one year I was back at work full time, thanks mostly to Dahn Yoga.

Due to a growth at my left adrenal gland, I had that part surgically removed. The growth had caused heractivity in my left adrenal gland causing my body to throw away potassium and as a result I suffered from high blood pressure. After surgery, we found out that the right adrenal gland was hypoactive (not active at all) so for several months I was taking steroid, hoping to induce it. Three months under steroid, I became bloated. Still, no activity in the right adrena gland. Luckily a friend brought home to me a brochure of dahn yoga. The Center was just a stone throw away from my residence. I checked it out and, lo, just one week of exercise and vibration, my right adrenal gland worked! I will forever be grateful with Dahn Yoga. Mabuhay (Long Live!)

Though it was founded in the 1980s, Dahn Yoga's basic precepts and techniques are directly descended from methods practiced five millennia ago in East Asia. These precepts include the importance of the mind's partnership with the body, as well as the need for a balanced bond between the two.

Today, thousands of Americans practice Dahn Yoga everyday, many of whom are delightedly trying it for the first time. Taking a little time out of one's day to stretch, breathe, pose and meditate with a gentle smile on one's face can radically change one's mood and outlook.

This blog offers responses to news items that prominently feature Dahn Yoga and its neighborhood centers.
